It’s the smack middle of summer, which means I’m eating all the fruits. You name it. I’ll probably have eaten it. Pounds of strawberries? In two days? Yup.
Summer also means that the frequency of exclamation marks (written and verbal) has decreased due to First World Problems, such as frigid air conditioning (honestly, winter is coming in the cold room), replaced by the usage of all caps instead. It’s especially freezing in my apartment, where the air conditioning can’t go below a specific temperature, or it’ll sputter and break down. I wear my fleece at my desk.
Canada’s 150th birthday was on July 1st, and I was so excited over the perfectly round number that I texted my sister (in caps, no less) to hunker down on a giant corn-on-the-cob from Pacific Place in Vancouver to commemorate, since that was what we used to do when we were kids. I had no idea if it still existed. It’s been years.
“I waaaaaaant toooo,” she replied, the but looming in the horizon, “but we have a barbecue with people I don’t know and it’s gonna suck.”
I spent my Canada Day wearing my battered red now-salmon-coloured hoodie, so there was that. July 4th was spent — what else? — mostly baking. And eating.
What did you all do?
Here’s an infographic of cataracts, in honour of early World Sight Day! For October!
