what I did instead of freezing off my toes, part I

January 14, 2017 By sabrinazwang 2 Comments

As promised, here are some sketches from Hawaii. Part II to come. If my printing looks like chicken scratch, well, you might have to squint a little. (I tried to switching to all caps but I’m not sure how much that helped.)

It was the first time we travelled to Hawaii (and somewhere that wasn’t incredibly cold for winter). My parents loved Hawaii so much that they fantasized about staying there. It really is beautiful, especially during sunrises and sunsets.

My dad was so fond of the aloha shirts that he bought one and wore it the entire time.
1. The sketches don’t even do sunrises justice. 2. When we were younger and had to squish on one bed when we travelled, my sister would punch me in the face while asleep like an epileptic starfish. I discovered, on this trip, that she has graduated to elbowing instead. My sister is very a nice, non-violent person awake. But asleep…
Seriously. #nofilter #orediting

We found that we enjoyed it more as the trip went on. I’d highly encourage driving around the island(s) to the entire island. (And for the shrimp trucks. We passed them as we drove by and my full stomach and I could only longingly glance at them.)

Also, I’d like to add, that just as we came back to Canada, I found that MOLLY YEH WAS IN OAHU TOO. Right next door to where we were staying. This was such a missed opportunity and I was sooooooo heartbroken, but now that I think about it I’m not sure if I would have actually done anything because I’m pretty sure I’d be creeped out a little if a random, overzealous fan wanted to meet me on vacation.

Damn Sabrina, B and I were on Oahu at the same time! Wish I had known, (life full of wishes) we could have met up but B was working on papers 1/2 of everyday. Still …
