If you have weather anxiety like me, you’ll understand that when I tell you that today was so warm for February day that it sent sends images of derailing weather and global warming signs flashing in my mind’s eye. It doesn’t seem like anyone else is particularly concerned, as people celebrated with summer clothing. Prime example below:
Lyft driver today: Can you believe that it’s so warm today? (Note: he is wearing shorts.)
Me: I know!! This is insane!
Lyft driver: Exactly! It’s awesome!
Me: Ha. Hahaha. Haha. *mutters under breath* Yeah, awesomely worrisome.
Lyft driver: What was that?
Me: *loudly* I said that it’s great you’re wearing shorts.
I relayed this stressful feeling for the millionth time to my mother, who mildly remarked that it was probably better for me anyway, considering that I produce zero body heat by myself. In the winter, it’s not uncommon for me to get mild frostbite in my toes after just fifteen minutes outside. I wish I were joking, but it’s true. I went to the Smithsonian Air and Space museum last summer, and in one of the rooms, there was a heat detector, and I could see that everyone else was glowing orange and yellow and red, I was blue. Not even neutral, which would have been gray. BLUE. It was so strange, that a woman took a picture of the screen so she could have proof.
Despite my thermal incapabilities, I still like my winters freezing cold. Preferably with blankets of snow, so I can feel justified in drinking copious mugs of hot cocoa. It just don’t feel right when you’re drinking hot chocolate with warm weather outside. It just don’t.
This week, we had a guest speaker, David Rini, from the Art as Applied to Medicine Program at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He’s so brilliant. He led us through an exercise about accuracy in portraiture (but applicable to anything), and the entire class loved it. Will update when available.
Some snippets from the week:

I also have some exciting news! For later.
