And just like that, it’s been one year since the website was launched. The only reason I remember this, is because I made the World’s Best Card for Jehna as the first post, and now am returning for the World’s Second-Best Card (am joking. That card’s hard to beat).
I got a little starry-eyed this week and bought an orchard’s worth of stone fruit, driven by the intense desire to bake with them. A plum galette? Peach pie? Nectarine coffee cake? Visions of a whirring kitchen were floating in front of my eyes at the grocery store. BUT INSTEAD, I’ve been zealously chomping away at them and watching numbers dwindle. My mother had called as I was happily distending myself on a pound of cherries that I’d just washed ten minutes prior. “What are you doing?” she asked.
“Cherries. They’re so good.”
“Oh.” I could see her eyes go distantly to some memory, perhaps to that time when I went back to Vancouver and within a day, finished a two-pound bag of sweet cherries and had a fantastic, fibre-full (also known as, painfully gassy) time afterwards. And promptly repeated the next day.
It could’ve been worse. It could’ve been those laced caramel cookies from Costco that melted in your mouth, or the shortbread from the nearby bakery that required extensive patience and queuing to buy. It could’ve been ice cream.
Hah. I ate those too.
So here’s a giant peach(es) sketch in celebration. And a virtual baby orange, because those things are Jehna’s kryptonite and she can destroy them with the intensity of a black hole. Trust me, I’d know. I eat fruit.
Thanks, you guys, for the support. You’re all peaches.

Lovely peaches, you’re talented!!
